The papaya tree is a small tree with large, spiky leaves and grows extremely fast, from seed to edible fruits within 9 to 12 months.
The papaya tree needs full sun light and tropical hot and humid temperatures.
Due to it fast growth rate, it is an ideal tree to grow between hardwood trees, outreaching them within a few months and giving shade to the younger saplings, similar to Banana Trees.
Papaya ǀ Carica papaya
Papaya is native to Mexico, Central and South-America, yet the Papaya tree has been naturalized to South-East Asia hundreds of years ago. So we may as well call it a native plant.
