If Papaya salad making is one of many challenges of the Bangkok Amazing Race, then teams arrive at the station, and must first watch the instructions by the local food seller how to make Som Tum.
 
After memorizing the steps and ingredients, each team must cook their own Papaya Salad. The Salad must be authentic Thai, spicy and fragrant.
 
Only if the dish is to the instructor's standards, are teams allow to continue in the race. Papaya salad making can be organized indoors, outdoors or as part of a cultural workshop or walk-rally.
