INDONESIA

Introduction to Indonesia

Indonesia goes by the official name of the Republic of Indonesia. It is the largest island country in the world with regards to the amount of islands, having over 14,000 islands. The estimated population found in this amazing location is over 255 Million, making Indonesia the 4th most populous country and the most populous country with a Muslim majority. The island of Java has about 51% of this country’s population.

Due to the fact that Indonesia  straddles the equator, it is has a temperate tropical climate. There is still unspoilt wilderness and lush and breathtaking rain forests, which possesses the second highest amount of biodiversity in the world, just after Brazil.

Kalimantan offers visitors uncharted jungles which is a perfect location for those looking for an adventure. Bali is the most popular tourist destination in Indonesia and offers some of the world’s most stunning beaches and tropical landscape.

Best Time to Travel to Indonesia

Indonesia only has two seasons, the dry and the wet. The dry season usually occurs from April to September. During this time, the weather is not very humid but it is generally not as comfortable as it is during the wet season. There are still occasional rainy days in the dry season. The wet season goes from October to March, bringing with it a lot of humidity and frequent torrential downpours.

For the corporate traveler, heading to Indonesia during this wet season generally means that fares and accommodations will be cheaper. It may not be ideal for outdoor team building exercises, but a great option for groups on a budget.

Flight Connections to and from Indonesia

There are 17 international airports located in Indonesia. The largest and far most important airport is the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, the 18th busiest airport in the world, serving an estimated 12.3 million passengers. Beside Bali, Jakarta is the main destination for the corporate traveler to come through on their trip to Indonesia.

The flag carrier of Indonesia is Garuda Indonesia, which is headquartered in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang.
Citilink is a low-cost airline option that is headquartered out of Jakarta. This is a cheaper option that is subsidized by Garuda Indonesia. Citilink has an on time arrival percentage of 87%, showing that it is not only a less expensive choice but also a reliable one.

Indonesia's unique features

There are about 18,000 different island in Indonesia, yet only a fraction of them are actually accessible for the international tourist and traveling on a MICE or team building trip, your favorite destination will be Bali or Jakarta.

However, should you be an extreme adventure lover, beunite is happy to take you anywhere in Indonesia, according to your budget.  An ideal location for an executive outing or team building retreat may be Bogor, just 90 KM South of Jakarta. Bogor lies on an elevated plateau and its relative altitude makes the temperature much more pleasant than in Jakarta.

In Bali, you will find some of the most jaw-dropping and beautiful beaches in the world. The water is clear and the beaches have the perfect sand. You may visit volcanos on a trekking tour or experience some of the best undersea adventures, with clear water and a wide variety of species that will really take your breath away

If you are looking for more of a busy city life rather than taking in the true beauty of nature, you may find all of the glitz and glamour in Jakarta. Whatever location that may fit your itinerary to hold your corporate meetings and team building events, you will find that all in Indonesia.

There are five places in Indonesia to encounter Orangutans from which Tanjung Puting National Park in Kalimantan (Borneo) is the most accessible. Read more about our CSR team building events "Save the Orangutans in the section below.

Suggested Team Building Activities in Indonesia

Learning and development is the number one purpose behind team building activities, yet fun and excitement often is of even importance. You may be in Indonesia to learn about leadership, time management creativity or organizational change but don’t forget to experience the local culture, the nightlife and shopping on your trip.

Should you have a day or two more time than the average corporate group you are welcome to join a fascinating CSR project Save The Orangutans, in Borneo. This event includes feeding and nurturing the orangutans as well as trekking, tree planting and supporting indigenous tribes.
