Previously named Prey Nokor during the reign of the Khmer it was annexed by the Vietnamese in the 17th century and then became known as Saigon in the 1860’s when it served as the capital of the French Chochinchina colony and latterly the capital of Southern Vietnam from 1955 until the end of the Vietnam War in 1975 when it was renamed Ho Chi Minh City by the communist revolutionaries.
Since the revolution, Ho Chi Minh City has evolved into a modern bustling metropolis, now home to glitzy shopping malls, skyscraper office buildings and top quality business hotels, today it is a lively, cosmopolitan city and one of the best destination choices for corporate incentive travel rivaling more well established South East Asian MICE capitals.

Best time to travel
Ho Chi Minh City’s climate is best described as tropical with two main season’s dry and wet with an average day time temperature of 28 degrees Celsius through the year.
The best time to travel for the driest weather is from December to the end of April with all most guaranteed sunshine, this the ideal time for outdoor team building events including our Saigon Cultural Discovery.
The dry season is a fantastic time to experience Christmas and New Year as well as the Lunar New Year festival in late January to early February when the city’s streets are adorned with many colorful decorations.
April is the hottest month with temperatures soaring to around 39 degrees Celsius, proceeding the arrival of the monsoon season in May.
Whilst heavy downpours are to be expected from May to October, the rainy season is an excellent time for corporate travel when hotel prices will be at their most competitive, each offering large discounts for group reservations and airfares tend to be at their lowest, so the wet season is the best time to travel for low season offers as well as indoor team building and corporate learning and development programs.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport is the largest airport in Vietnam located just 6 kilometres north of the city center. With the opening of a new modern International terminal in 2007 the airport now handles from 15 to 17 million passengers a year traveling directly from throughout Asia and Europe. Ho Chi Minh City airport the main gateway for domestic flights in the country.
The airport is served with an abundance of daily direct flights from most Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur all offering a choice between quality airlines and budget carriers with reasonable flight times.
Tiger Air from Singapore has three daily flights, flight time is 2 hours and 10 minutes with fares available from $85 SGD one way. Air Asia flies four times a day from Kuala Lumpur and Nok Air flies from Bangkok with low fares for budget conscious groups.
Ho Chi Minh City is unique in that it has managed to rise from the ashes of destructive times of the Vietnam War period and rebuild and re-establish itself as one of the most popular cities in South East Asia for both individual and corporate incentive travel.
