A seminar is a form of academic instruction and the most formal of the three. It can be a lecture, a presentation and sometimes participatory, thus questions may be raised and debates may occur. A workshop in contrast is also academic but informal in style. Participants are fully involved in the learning process. In involves small and large group discussions, activities, exercises and the opportunity to practice the concepts that are presented. View details

Team building activities could be both a workshop or an event, but unlikely a seminar. A team building event stresses the entertainment value while a team building workshop focusses generally on the educational or academic aspect, often referred to as team training.

Beunite frequently uses the term event for outdoor and adventure type team building activities while we use workshop for more learning orientated indoor events. The term seminar is rarely used on this website.

4. Organizational development, organizational change, corporate training, vocational training, team building. I am confused about all these buzzwords. What really do they mean?

You may never have done any team building in the past but there may be people in the organization who have, possibly in their previous jobs. Go and talk to them. Ask them about their experience, what went well and what did not.

Once you have an idea of what you are looking for, please contact us by e-mail or try to find an event that is suitable on our website.

Then, take at least an hour of your time to think. Start with asking yourself the following questions:

  • How many people should join the team building and what is our budget.

  • What’s the age group, gender, nationality, religion and language, hierarchy and job position of our team?

  • Is the team building purely motivational, experiential and recreational or do we want to address problems within the organization?

  • If we are interested in team training, what are the potential problem areas within our organization?

  • What are my personal objectives and the objectives from our team? What should be accomplished?

  • Do the participants know each other and how well?

  • How long should the team building event be and is it possible to achieve our objectives within the time frame? Do we have the budget for this?

  • Where do we want to do the team building, in which destination or country? Do we have the budget to travel that far?

You can see that the budget is of utmost importance and it is definitely the first thing you should decide upon. It nearly decides everything, what can be accomplished, how long the event should be, where it takes place, etc.

8. We have never arranged a team building in the past and I don’t even know where to start. Can you help me?

That may depend on your objectives, on the climate (weather), group size and location.

With sunny and dry weather and daytime temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees, December to February is an ideal time to organize outdoor activities in most parts of South-East Asia. Beach destinations are more popular for outdoor activities than large cities.

A relatively small group of 20-30 people is more suitable for an island survivor adventure challenge than a large group of 200 participants. Should your upcoming team building work shop be aligned with your overall organizational development strategy, some indoor team training courses may be more suitable.

9. Should we go for an indoor or outdoor team building program?

10. How can we best navigate through your website?

View details
We have tried to build our website as user friendly as possible and navigating through our website should be a pleasant user experience.

The aim of this website is go provide the user with a simple way to source the best possible team building events around the world based on entering various sets of data, like budget, type of event, event duration or learning objective.

First, on the top panel under search events, enter duration and number of people and click search.  The search result will show all events based on those two search criteria.

After that, on the right hand panel, you may refine your search. Click the relevant country, destination and choose the type of the event.

All team building work-shops on this site are categorized under six event types:

  • Adventure & water sports

  • Treasure hunts & walk rallies

  • Organizational development

  • Art & Culture

  • Fashion & Design

  • CSR & Community

As some events are categorized under more than one event type, you may choose primary and secondary event type to source any possible combination of events that specifically match your requirement.
A typical example would be the Event Treasure Island in Southern Thailand. This event is a typical treasure hunt and therefore primarily categorized under "Treasure hunts & walk rallies”. Yet, the event is about travelling on speed-boats to different islands, and includes water sport activities and is fairly adventurous. Therefore it will appear in the search result "Adventure & water sports” under the secondary event type.

Also on the right hand panel below destination you may want to choose the location. Location refers to the exact place and not to the city or destination. Here you have the choice between indoor and outdoor events.

Under outdoor events, the following locations can be refined:

    • On the beach

    • In a public park

    • Around the destination

An event that is categorized indoor & outdoor always takes place in two locations, indoors and outdoors. For example, an Amazing Chase type team building event always starts and end in a meeting room or hotel lobby (for smaller groups) while the largest part of the event takes place outdoors (travelling around the destination).

On the right hand panel under event type, work-shops can be sourced based on learning objectives. The following learning objectives are available:

    • Brainstorming

    • Conflict resolution

    • Corporate vision, mission and core values

    • Creative thinking

    • Cultural awareness

    • Goal setting

    • Improve meetings

    • Leadership

    • Musical and artistic creativity

    • Organizational health

    • Personal relationship management

    • Problem solving

    • Team commitment and accountability

    • Time management

    • Win-Win scenarios

As some work-shops improve more than one type of skill and tap into more than one objective, the functions primary and secondary objective come into place.

All the above search functions are there to help you find the work-shop what you really are looking for and to provide you with a great customer experience. Should there be too many events appearing in the result, try to refine your search further. Too few events in the search result is an indicator that you have over-refined your search.
